NHAMUNDÁ AMAZONAS BRASIL! Nhamundá is a city in the Amazon. Its estimated population in 2004 was 16,352 inhabitants. The origin of the municipal headquarters dates back to the beginning of penetrations Nhamundá river, which occurred in the early decades of the seventeenth century. The Indians were the first inhabitants - Uabuís, Cunuris and Guaicaris with village called Faro. In 1758 occurs his elevation to the village. In the administrative division of Brazil 1911, appears as a member of the city of Parintins, back to have another district in addition to the headquarters, the Island of Cotias. On 19/12/1955, through the State Law No. 96, of the Cotias Island district is dismembered of Parintins and becomes the autonomous municipality of Nhamundá. In 01.31.1956 settles the new municipality. Municipality of Nhamundá is located in the physiographic region of the Lower Amazon, limiting with the municipalities of Parintins and Urucará in the Amazon, with the state of Roraima (north) and the municipalities of Faro and the Holy Land, in the state of Pará, a distance of 375 km from the capital, straight, and about 577 km by river. Its altitude is 50 meters above sea level.
